Why we ask
The site works if you reject analytics. We do not use advertising cookies. The notes below say when we ask before analytics cookies.
United Kingdom
PECR, alongside the UK GDPR, require consent before cookies that are not strictly necessary. We do not set analytics cookies until you accept them.
Ireland
The GDPR and the European Communities (Electronic Communications Networks and Services) (Privacy and Electronic Communications) Regulations 2011 (the ePrivacy Regulations) require consent before analytics cookies. Visitors in Ireland see the same analytics choice as UK visitors. We do not set analytics cookies until you accept them.
United States
US federal law does not require the same prior consent as PECR. For California residents, CCPA/CPRA still applies to personal information collected through cookies. We do not sell that information, and we do not use advertising cookies.
Canada
PIPEDA covers personal information collected through cookies. Where we show the analytics choice, we do not set analytics cookies until you accept them.
Australia
The Privacy Act 1988 covers personal information collected through cookies. Where we show the analytics choice, we do not set analytics cookies until you accept them.
Essential cookies
These are strictly necessary for a service you asked for, or to remember the choice below. We do not ask for consent to set them.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| buckery_consent | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics on the website. | 6 months | Essential |
| buckery_country | A country code from our host, so we know whether to show the analytics choice. Not your name. | 1 day | Essential |
| __Secure-better-auth.session_token | Keeps you signed in on the app after you sign in. It is not set if you only browse. The name is the Better Auth default, prefix better-auth and cookie session_token, with the __Secure- prefix used on https. | 7 days | Essential |
| buckery.session | Records that a sign-in cookie is present, so the demo line can wait. The value is 1. It is not the session token, and it is not set if you only browse. | 7 days | Essential |
Analytics cookies
Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, runs only after you accept. Google sets these cookies. They can last up to 2 years. They measure pages and actions such as joining the waitlist. They are not used for advertising.
Until a container id is configured, accepting does not load Google. The demo at demo.buckery.app does not load Google Analytics.
How to change your choice
On buckery.app, use Reject analytics or Accept analytics on the banner. Open that choice again with Cookie settings in the footer. Rejecting, or clearing cookies in your browser, stops analytics on the next visit until you accept again. You can also block cookies in the browser. Blocking the sign-in cookie will sign you out.
Emails are not cookies
The waitlist sends your email to Formspree. If you have accepted analytics, it can also send the page path, the referring page, and campaign tags from the link. We keep those in session storage for the tab after you accept, and we remove them if you reject analytics. They are not a cookie. The email itself is described in the privacy policy.
